Smile – It’s becoming on you…

10 Apr

Grand Haven, MI Rob making me smile:)

Ahhhhh…the slight up turn of the corners of your mouth begins, the laugh lines show as your eyes close, then the set of pearly whites are on full display as an hearty laugh erupts – the smile has arrived:).

What makes you smile?  Your kids?  Your furry babies?  Bloopers on TV? Your spouse’s jokes? Even yourself? Or, maybe nothing right now.

What about your joy in the Lord?  Does that even exist, you ask?

Well, it either does, or it can if you don’t feel as if you’re experiencing it! “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11

We must first trust in Him!  “For our heart is glad in Him, because we trust in His holy name.” Psalm 33:21

Our joy is not based on any one thing happening in our lives making it so.  Our joy is not based on any one person making it so.  No, it is because “…my heart rejoices in God my Savior…”! Luke 1:47

When HE, the only one we seek, is alive in our lives, we can then smile with abandon and say, “May all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you! May those who love your salvation say evermore, “God is great!”” Psalm 70:4

I know a lot of hurting people…some in a short season of sadness and some in a long season.

If you haven’t seen in your smile, nor those around you lately, ask the Lord to “restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit”. Psalm 51:12  Soon, “He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting.” Job 8:21

If, “The Lord your God is in your mist, a mighty one who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with loud singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17), then let that smile, that grin, that laughter loose!!!  You have nothing to lose, and only joy to gain! 🙂

May you smile BIG! Love, Sarah

The Lord’s Hand Reaches Thru All…

4 Apr

Grand Haven Snow, April

Job was hurting.  Job had been thru it all. Loss of children. Loss of home. Loss of possessions. Illness. Questioned by friends over his lot in life as it all seemed to fall apart.

Yet, thru this Job says to the Lord, “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” Job 42:2

What a statement from a man who was currently in a state of suffering!

I find myself asking, “Do I trust in the Lord enough to say that in the trials I face, big or small, “Lord, I know your hand is in my life. You see all that goes on and I trust you to lead me thru each day?” Hmmmm…sometimes, I don’t “give the Lord enough credit”. Pretty embarrassing, right?

I think we all fall into that trap of believing He cannot be thwarted, but when it comes to the details we want to step in and take control. As Steve Brown (Key Life) says that’s not believing in His sovereignty (I paraphrase.)

So, as you tackle life, muddle thru it at times, or sail thru it without a care, “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, and nothing can stop the Lord from doing the absolute best for you in your life – “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

The Lord’s will cannot be overcome by anyone or anything. Hallelujah!! 🙂 Remember, “For the Lord Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?” Isaiah 14:27

And, whether you think your in control or you are fearful of others control/influence/affect in your life, remember this too, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21

May your day be bright, Sarah Marie:)
